Join Brent Martin on Sunday, May 17, to bird Alarka Laurel, a high-elevation bog and "hanging valley" in North Carolina's Cowee Mountains, renowned as the site of the southernmost surviving red spruce bog in the world. Expect to see Canada Warblers, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Scarlet Tanagers, and more. We'll we walking along the Walton Interpretive Trail and will likely see some interesting wildflowers along the way as well.
Plan to meet Brent at 7:30 am at Cowee School (map) to carpool to the birding site.
