Chimney Swift Soiree

Save the date for our

Chimney Swift Soiree

Chimney Swifts have suffered a dramatic decline since the 1970s due to first a loss of their natural habitat (old growth forests) followed by a dramatic decline in their substitute habitat (chimneys). The Cowee School Arts and Heritage Center in Macon County is home to loads of Chimney Swifts thanks to their preservation of the historic building. Celebrate these wonderful birds with us at our first annual Chimney Swift Soiree! HBA will provide cold non-alcoholic beverages. Bring a potluck dish to share, a comfy chair, and your binoculars.

4–6 PM: Join us for light conservation work to help improve the chimney swift viewing area.

6 PM–Dark: Gather for a potluck meal and drinks, then watch the chimney swifts fill the evening sky above historic Cowee School.
